The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is leading this year's newly launched "Artificial Intelligence Transformation (AX) Demonstration Industrial Complex Construction Project," with the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation serving as the dedicated institution. The project is now in full swing, with discussions underway regarding the formation of consortia for each industrial complex.
On the 24th, the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation announced that the call for applications to select implementing organizations for the "AX Demonstration Industrial Complex Construction Project" has begun. On the 20th, a project briefing session regarding this call was held at the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation Headquarters.
Approximately 250 participants from industry, research institutes, local governments, and related organizations attended the briefing session. The event included an overview and guidelines for the "AX Demonstration Industrial Complex Construction Project," as well as a Q&A session. There was a particularly high volume of questions concerning the project cost execution standards, such as the criteria for in-kind contributions of equipment and software. Active communication at the event raised expectations for the project's effectiveness and encouraged participation.
The "AX Demonstration Industrial Complex Construction Project" aims to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) into industrial sites in earnest, building on the achievements of the Smart Green Industrial Complex initiative. The goal is to drive productivity innovation, create new business opportunities for companies located in industrial complexes, and revitalize regional economies.
Selected industrial complexes will focus on their core industries and pursue the following: ▲building AX infrastructure, ▲supporting AX demonstration for companies, ▲establishing an AX master plan for the complex, and ▲operating an AX alliance. By integrating AI, the project will establish a foundation for advanced industrial complexes and promote AX activation through collaboration among large, medium-sized, and small enterprises.
Through this call for applications, a total of 10 industrial complexes will be selected from among national Smart Green Industrial Complexes. Each selected complex will receive 14 billion KRW in national funding, with a total of 140 billion KRW to be distributed by 2028.
