Strong Warning of Forceful Response to Ceasefire Violations
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu officially announced on the 24th (local time) that he has agreed to a ceasefire with Iran, as proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
In a statement released that day, Prime Minister Netanyahu said, "Israel has eliminated the immediate existential threat in the areas of nuclear and ballistic missiles," and added, "We have accepted the ceasefire because all objectives of the war have been achieved." He further emphasized, "Through Operation Rising Lion, Israel has achieved a historic accomplishment and now stands shoulder to shoulder with the world's major powers."
He also warned that if Iran violates the ceasefire, Israel will respond forcefully.
This announcement came immediately after Prime Minister Netanyahu presided over a security cabinet meeting the previous night. It was reported that, following the meeting, he asked cabinet members to refrain from making public statements about the ceasefire.
President Trump officially confirmed the implementation of the ceasefire by posting a message on his own social networking service, Truth Social, earlier that morning, stating, "The ceasefire is now in effect. Never violate it!"
However, Israeli government officials told the Jerusalem Post that Trump's announcement differed from the originally coordinated timing and manner.
Meanwhile, armed clashes between Israel and Iran continued even after President Trump's ceasefire announcement. According to AP and other sources, Israel stated that there were six missile attacks from Iran following President Trump's announcement of the ceasefire, resulting in four deaths and eight injuries. Israel also continued its airstrikes that day, including attacks targeting missile launch sites in western Iran.
