"We Enjoy Too"... Busan Port Authority Hosts Scuba Diving Experience for People with Disabilities

Busan Port Authority (BPA), in collaboration with the Korea Maritime Boy Scouts Busan Federation, held a scuba diving experience event for people with physical disabilities.

The event took place on June 23 at Busan North Port Marina and will be held once more on June 30. This program was designed to provide people with disabilities, who have limited access to marine leisure activities, with an opportunity to participate, helping to foster a sense of accomplishment and confidence.

Participants were selected based on recommendations from the Jung-gu Disabled Persons Association in Busan, and professional instructors from the Korea Maritime Boy Scouts Busan Federation conducted the training. During the experience, special equipment such as full-face diving masks and underwater wheelchairs was provided for participants who had difficulty breathing with air tanks. A dedicated bus was also arranged for those with mobility challenges.

One participant said, "I was truly happy to be able to dive again, something I enjoyed before my disability. I hope there will be more opportunities like this in the future."

Song Sanggeun, president of Busan Port Authority, stated, "This was a meaningful event that provided new opportunities for neighbors who have difficulty accessing marine leisure activities. We will continue to carry out social contribution activities in partnership with the local community."
