According to the legal community on the 24th, the CIO has assigned the case, in which the civic group Citizens' Action for Judicial Justice Reform (Sasehaeng) filed a complaint against Prosecutor General Shim for abuse of authority and dereliction of duty, to the First Investigation Division (headed by Chief Prosecutor Na Changsu).
On the 16th, Sasehaeng filed a complaint against Prosecutor General Shim, claiming that he, as the then chief prosecutor of the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office, intentionally halted the prosecution's investigation into allegations of organized corruption crimes involving Incheon Customs.
Baek Haeryong, a superintendent who was serving as the chief of the Criminal Division at Yeongdeungpo Police Station at the time, previously claimed that in February 2023, the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office arrested one member of a Malaysian drug smuggling ring but failed to conduct additional investigations into accomplices or impose exit bans, effectively neglecting the case.
