Shares First Impressions on Her First Day at Work on the 24th
"Great Sense of Responsibility Leading a Ministry with 8 Million Business Operators"
Outlines Vision for SMEs, Small Business Owners, and Innovative Startups
"Though Weak in Manufacturing, Will Listen to Diverse Opinions"
Hansung Sook, the nominee for Minister of SMEs and Startups, stated on her first day of work on the 24th, "I will support the growth of SMEs, startups, and small business owners through digital transformation."
On this day, as she arrived at the confirmation hearing preparation office set up at Samhee Excon Venture Tower in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, Han told reporters, "SMEs, startups, and small business owners are the foundation and backbone of our economy," and added, "Since the Ministry of SMEs and Startups is a department with over 8 million business operators, I believe there is a lot to understand." She continued, "Taking on such an important position at a critical time, I feel an even greater sense of responsibility."

When asked whether there were any special instructions from the presidential office regarding the operation of the ministry, she replied, "Rather than special instructions, I heard from Chief of Staff Kang Hoonshik during his announcement that there is an expectation for 'adding something new' to the growth of SMEs and startups," and added, "I will do my best to help companies grow by leveraging my experience and capabilities."
Regarding concerns about potential conflicts of interest due to her previous role as CEO of Naver, she said, "I understand that my career and expertise can be helpful in some areas, but I am also aware of the concerns," and added, "I will carefully review matters to ensure that I can be of help."
Han particularly emphasized her commitment to supporting digital transformation. She stated, "While I may have some weaknesses in traditional manufacturing, I have created cases of utilizing technology as a tool since my time at Naver, so my connection to digital transformation is strong."
She added, "Because new things can feel unfamiliar, I believe it is important to listen closely," and continued, "Since the economy is not limited to a single field, I will develop solutions through discussions with experts from various fields, associations, and ministry officials."
