Inspection of Gyeryong-myeon, Rental Smart Farm, and Mansu District
"We Will Find Answers by Staying Close to Citizens"
Choi Woncheol, Mayor of Gongju City in South Chungcheong Province, marked the third anniversary of the 8th popularly elected administration by forgoing a formal ceremony and instead practicing "field-oriented communication administration" by personally visiting key project sites closely related to citizens' daily lives.
According to Gongju City on June 24, Mayor Choi visited three locations on June 23: the Gyeryong-myeon Basic Living Base Development Site, the Rental Smart Farm Complex, and the Mansu District Flood Damage Restoration Site. He checked the progress of each project and listened to feedback from the field.
At the Gyeryong-myeon Basic Living Base Development Site, he toured major facilities under construction, such as the Community Center and plaza, and discussed future operational directions and regional revitalization strategies with local stakeholders, including the operations committee chair.
The city is accelerating efforts to improve rural settlement conditions, including the Yugueup Rural Central Area Revitalization Project and the development of basic living bases in Tancheon, Gyeryong, Uidang, and Useong-myeon.
At the Rental Smart Farm Complex, he reviewed leasing and operational plans, as well as support measures to ensure the stable settlement of young farmers.
The complex is scheduled to begin leasing in the second half of this year, with a focus on attracting young people and establishing a foundation for agricultural innovation.
At the Mansu District Flood Damage Restoration Site, he checked the progress of the expansion work on the 400-ton drainage pumping station and the 5,700-cubic-meter retention basin, and emphasized the need for thorough disaster prevention measures for the summer season.
Mayor Choi stated, "What is more important than a ceremony is to be by the citizens' side, see the situation firsthand, and find solutions together," adding, "Moving forward, we will continue to prioritize substantive, communicative administration over formality in city governance."
