Kim Minseok: "Like President Lee Jaemyung's Pledge to Be President for All, I Will Be Prime Minister for All"

Diagnosing a "Comprehensive Crisis" and Emphasizing His Role
Earnestly Requests Cooperation from Both Ruling and Opposition Parties
"Will Clearly Set Priorities to Overcome the Crisis"

On June 24, Prime Minister nominee Kim Minseok stated, "Following the spirit of President Lee Jaemyung's inaugural address, in which he pledged to become a president for all people, I too will serve as a prime minister for all, embracing and serving every citizen."

Kim made these remarks in his greeting at the personnel hearing committee held at the National Assembly on the same day. He said, "The Republic of Korea is currently facing a comprehensive crisis both internally and externally," and explained, "Externally, rapidly changing international circumstances?such as a complex economic crisis, supply chain restructuring, and instability in the Middle East?are placing a significant burden on our economy, diplomacy, and security overall. Domestically, we are confronted with structural challenges such as overcoming difficulties in the people's livelihoods and economy, restoring trust in policies, and alleviating social conflicts."

Regarding the Lee Jaemyung administration, which marks its 21st day since inauguration, he said, "We are waging an all-out effort to overcome the crisis," and introduced, "We are swiftly implementing a variety of measures to revitalize the people's economy." Kim added, "The road to overcoming the crisis remains long and arduous," and explained, "In particular, it is regrettable that the government continues to operate solely through the president's efforts, as neither a new prime minister nor ministers have been appointed." He continued, "The government must quickly regain its footing and fulfill its responsibilities," and requested, "For the government, which started from scratch without a transition committee, to rapidly place Korea on a stable track, cooperation from both the ruling and opposition parties, as well as the broader political community, is essential."

Regarding state affairs, he explained, "Over the next 100 days, I will swiftly push forward with feasible policies to address shortcomings left by the previous administration." He continued, "I will clarify priorities," and stated, "We will accurately identify the reality and root causes of the crises before us, and seek solutions according to these priorities through precise diagnosis and response."

He also pledged, "I will secure growth engines for the future of Korea," and promised, "Through strong regulatory innovation and bold investment, we will foster advanced industries such as AI, semiconductors, and biotechnology, and secure future sources of national income." In addition, he said, "We will build a model for social dialogue," and pledged, "In keeping with the era of popular sovereignty, we will expand opportunities for public participation and communication, and institutionalize these efforts."
