Iran: "If Israel Stops, We Will Not Retaliate... No Ceasefire Agreement at Present"

In response to U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, Iran has stated that it will not retaliate if Israel halts its attacks.

On the 24th (local time), Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), "If Israel ceases its illegal aggression against the Iranian people by no later than 4 a.m. Tehran time, we have no intention of taking any further action after that."

Minister Araghchi emphasized, "As Iran has made clear on multiple occasions, it was Israel, not Iran, that initiated this war," and added, "At present, there is absolutely no 'agreement' regarding a ceasefire or a halt to military operations."

He further stated, "A final decision regarding the suspension of military operations will be made at a later time."

Previously, President Trump announced on his social media platform Truth Social that Israel and Iran had agreed to a complete and comprehensive ceasefire for 12 hours. In an interview with NBC, he also said that a ceasefire between Israel and Iran had been achieved through his mediation and would last forever.

There has not yet been any official statement from Israel regarding the ceasefire.
