KT Unveils Highly Reliable Network Technology 'Hybrid Quantum Cryptography Communication'

Participation in Quantum Korea 2025: Introducing Leading Quantum Cryptography Communication Technologies and Future Directions
"Continuing to Prepare for the Application of Quantum Technology Across Various Industries... Contributing to Ecosystem Vitalization"

KT is introducing its hybrid quantum cryptography communication, a highly reliable network technology that applies quantum security to all layers of the network.

On June 24, KT announced that it would showcase this quantum cryptography communication technology and more at 'Quantum Korea 2025,' Korea’s leading quantum technology event, held from June 24 to June 26 at the aT Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul, hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and others.

Participating in Quantum Korea for the third consecutive year since 2023, KT is presenting the theme "Quantum - Connected Future by KT," and will introduce an overview of quantum cryptography communication, its applications, and its future prospects.

KT is exhibiting its proprietary technologies, including hybrid quantum cryptography dedicated lines and quantum VPN (Virtual Private Network). In particular, hybrid quantum cryptography communication is a highly reliable network technology that combines quantum key distribution (QKD) and post-quantum cryptography (PQC) to apply quantum security to all layers of the network, including transmission and access networks.

Visitors can observe the operation of quantum communication equipment at a glance, easily understand the characteristics of quantum cryptography, and experience how the quantum cryptography communication network operates stably even when threats such as hacking occur.

KT is also exhibiting a variety of quantum cryptography communication devices developed in collaboration with 14 domestic and international partner companies. KT holds 15 core patents in quantum cryptography communication and has expanded the foundation of quantum cryptography communication using purely domestic technology by transferring its quantum technologies to leading Korean tech companies and collaborating with them.

In addition, visitors can learn about various use cases where quantum cryptography communication has been applied, such as the commercial 5G-based Air Force quantum cryptography project, interoperability demonstration of heterogeneous quantum cryptography communication between Seoul and Busan, the hybrid quantum security network for Shinhan Bank, and quantum encryption of AI medical data at the National Cancer Center, covering the public, defense, industry, finance, and medical sectors.

During the conference session, KT will present its independently developed technologies, efforts to expand the domestic quantum cryptography communication ecosystem, a variety of demonstration results, and its vision for the future quantum internet era.

Myung Jaehoon, Head of the Service Product Business Division at KT Enterprise, said, "KT has been a leading company driving the development of quantum cryptography communication technology in Korea and has continuously prepared for its application across various industries," adding, "We will continue to lead the activation of the quantum ecosystem by cooperating with a variety of partners."
