On June 24, global travel app Skyscanner announced that, according to a recent survey of 1,000 Korean travelers, more than half (51%) of respondents said they plan to travel to destinations where they can enjoy more within their budget this summer. Additionally, 36% stated they would choose cost-effective destinations over popular but expensive ones, indicating a preference for practical and value-driven travel.

Seven out of ten respondents (74%) said that summer vacations invigorate their daily lives, and 34% of all respondents revealed they plan to take more summer vacations this year than last year. Furthermore, one in five (22%) said they would take several short trips instead of one long vacation, showing a growing trend of seeking frequent, refreshing getaways throughout the long summer within a limited budget.

In line with this value-for-money travel trend, Skyscanner introduced affordable summer travel destinations for Korean travelers based on its own search data.

According to Skyscanner's data, Jeju is the most affordable domestic destination for airfare this summer. Travelers can enjoy exotic scenery with palm trees just an hour away without a passport, making it an easy summer getaway. Visitors can take a refreshing walk at Bijarim, where the clear emerald waters of Hamdeok Beach meet lush nutmeg tree forests. In addition, travelers can recharge by taking in panoramic views of the Jeju sea from the top of an Oreum or enjoying a relaxing sunset at a cozy cafe.

The most affordable international destination for airfare is Kitakyushu, a small city in Japan located near Fukuoka. It is accessible from Incheon Airport by a flight of about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Travelers can enjoy a peaceful stroll in the gardens around Kokura Castle and shop for unique souvenirs at Uomachi Gintengai. In Mojiko Retro District, visitors can experience a distinctive retro atmosphere where exotic and modern architecture blend harmoniously.

Jessica Min, a travel expert at Skyscanner, said, "We see a trend toward rational travel spending, with 42% of respondents planning to spend less than 510,000 won per trip on round-trip airfare this summer.
