The Korea Tourism Organization announced on June 24 that it will provide approximately 70,000 high-resolution Korean tourism photos from its own collection as a training dataset for Naver's generative artificial intelligence (AI) model, HyperCLOVA X.
The organization explained that this collaboration was initiated to address cases where global generative AI models produce distorted images of "Korea" and "Korean culture," and to enable a more sophisticated expression of Korean culture and sentiment through Naver's domestic generative AI technology.

Through this partnership, 70,000 high-resolution photos?out of approximately 100,000 photos on Photo Korea for which the organization holds copyright?will be used as a training dataset for HyperCLOVA X. Photo Korea is a Korean tourism photo platform operated by the organization, where users can find images that capture the unique appeal of Korea, including royal palaces, hanok, Korean cuisine, regional festivals, and traditional markets.
Moon Seonok, head of the Digital Content Team at the Korea Tourism Organization, stated, "Through this collaboration with Naver, we hope to support the growth of a domestic company and, based on this, ensure that accurate information about Korea and its unique culture is generated in the global market. The organization plans to reorganize its management system for approximately 1.76 million tourism content assets accumulated over several decades to expand the release of public data for the promotion of Korean tourism."
