Yeonju Kim of Duksung Women's University Wins Top Poster Prize at 'Jeonju Future Forum'

Undergraduate Students Recognized for Outstanding Achievements
Through Creative Research Excellence

Duksung Women's University announced on the 24th that Yeonju Kim, a graduate student majoring in Art History, received the top prize in the poster presentation category at the '2025 Jeonju Future Forum,' which was held over two days on June 13 and 14 at the Jeonju Korean Cultural Center.

The 2025 Jeonju Future Forum is a cultural and arts convergence academic event jointly hosted by Jeonju City, Jeollabuk-do Province, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and co-organized by the Jeonju Cultural Foundation, the Korean Regional Culture Association, the Korean Cultural Economics Association, the Korean Arts Management Association, the Korean Culture and Arts Management Association, and the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute. This year, more than 200 cultural and arts academic experts from across the country participated under the theme "Jeonju, the Home of K-Culture and Its Future."

At Duksung Women's University, Yeonju Kim, a graduate student majoring in Art History, received the top prize in the poster presentation category, while Yewon Kim and Chaehyun Lee, also graduate students, each received encouragement awards. The students gave presentations focusing on the relationship between crafts and local communities, discussing the potential of crafts as local cultural resources and strategies for content development. The judges gave high marks for the theoretical coherence of the presentations as well as their potential for application in local cultural settings.

The award recipients said, "It was a meaningful experience as we were able to simultaneously consider the practical applicability of our research topics," and added, "By interacting with researchers from various fields, we could sense the potential for expanding research in culture and the arts."

Professor Suhee Jung, the academic advisor, stated, "The students' efforts to explore locality, arts policy, and the practical possibilities of public culture based on art history were particularly noteworthy," and added, "This award recognizes their ability to design future-oriented cultural strategies grounded in an understanding of tradition." She continued, "The Art History major has recently been actively conducting interdisciplinary research focusing on topics such as public art and local cultural policy," and emphasized, "We will continue to actively pursue practice-based research linked to the field of culture and the arts in the future."
