Ministry of Culture to Hold First Youth Culture Forum in Busan on June 28

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on June 24 that it will hold the "2025 First Youth Culture Forum" at 2:00 p.m. on June 28 at the South Hall of Millak the Market in Suyeong-gu, Busan.

The Youth Culture Forum is an event designed to gauge the perceptions of the young generation regarding a wide range of policy areas overseen by the ministry, such as culture and the arts, sports, and tourism, and to listen to their opinions. This year, under the theme "How to Use Youth Culture," the forum aims to give young people an opportunity to explore and design the lives they want to lead, with culture at the center. Following Busan, the forum will continue in Seoul in August and Gwangju in November.

At the first forum, Lee Yuhan, CEO of the social enterprise Gonggong Plan, which operates the "Ibagu Village" brand in Busan, will speak, along with Choi Byeol, former MBC producer and creator of the YouTube channel "Oneureun," and the couple Shin Hyesun, art director, and Do Geonwoo, actor. In addition, Busan youth artists such as the tango ensemble "Chinchin Tango" and singer-songwriter "Minju" will give celebratory performances, while "Ash Band" will take the stage for Starbucks' "Byeolbit Live," a project supporting young talent in culture and the arts.

Forum participants will be able to engage in interactive communication and share their opinions in real time. In the latter half of each lecture, a session called "Signal: Empathy Switch" will allow young people to vote and ask questions directly to the speakers. There will also be a space for participants to freely share their concerns as young people and their opinions on youth policy, as well as a hands-on event where they can create their own keychains using decorations symbolizing the culture, arts, sports, and tourism experiences they wish to enjoy.

Anyone can participate in the forum free of charge by registering on the Eventus website by 4:00 p.m. on June 26.

Lee Jeongmi, Director of Cultural Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated, "Supporting young people with creative ideas and capabilities so that they can realize their dreams is a core role of the government and an important investment for the future," adding, "The ministry will listen more closely to the concerns and voices of young people in order to support a life enriched by culture, and will continue to discover and develop policies that resonate with youth."
