Gyeonggi Province announced on the 24th that it will conduct on-site evaluations of three privately operated roads managed by the province (Ilsan Bridge, 3rd Gyeongin Expressway, and Seo Suwon to Uiwang Expressway) together with relevant experts for three days, from the 25th to the 27th.

The on-site evaluation is part of the annual privately operated road management assessment led by Gyeonggi Province, which aims to enhance user convenience, safety, and management efficiency. Since 2019, the province has conducted this evaluation every year together with experts in transportation and facility safety.

This year’s evaluation will focus especially on the maintenance status of aging road facilities and the safety management plans for emergencies such as fires. In addition, the province plans to carry out more rigorous inspections of potholes and rest area cleanliness as experienced by road users.

Meanwhile, experts in transportation and facility safety will not only evaluate operations but also provide on-site consulting to address deficiencies and help improve the management of privately operated roads. For any deficiencies or areas requiring improvement, each private operator must take immediate action, and Gyeonggi Province will continuously monitor whether these actions are implemented.

Kim Youngseop, Director of Road Policy at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "We will closely examine the safety and convenience of privately operated roads from the perspective of residents using these roads," adding, "Based on the inspection results, we will strengthen management and supervision to ensure these roads can be improved further."
