Park Chan-dae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, announced on June 23 that he met with and encouraged Kim Minseok, the nominee for Prime Minister, one day before his confirmation hearing.
Through his social networking service (SNS) Facebook account, Park stated, "Today, I met with Prime Minister nominee Kim Minseok, who is making final preparations ahead of the confirmation hearing, and offered him words of support and encouragement." He added, "I have gained deep confidence in nominee Kim Minseok, who is preparing for the hearing without wavering, despite the groundless suspicions raised by the People Power Party and their attempts to turn not only his private life but even his religion into a political issue."
Regarding nominee Kim, Park said, "He was chosen by President Kim Dae-jung and is now being entrusted with a key role by President Lee Jaemyung." He continued, "He is a valuable asset to our Democratic Party and represents the crucial first step for the Lee Jaemyung administration, which we must protect at all costs."
He went on to say, "With the experience and insight that come from his long political career, I expect him to help create a 'government that works' for the real Korea." Park added, "Even in the face of difficulties, I hope he will not lose hope or courage and will move forward with confidence."
Park also told Kim, "The darkness is deepest just before dawn," and cheered him on by saying, "Stay strong, Kim Minseok!"
