Participation in 2025 MediExpo Korea
and Exhibition of Project Achievements
Daegu Catholic University has celebrated the successful completion of the first phase of its visual function assistive device industry development project and has officially begun the second phase aimed at entering the global market.
Daegu Catholic University Optical Convergence Technology Project Group is showcasing technologies and products related to visual function assistive devices at the on-site booth of the 2025 MediExpo Korea.
The Daegu Catholic University Optical Convergence Technology Project Group participated jointly with the Daegu Technopark Robot Mobility Center at the 2025 MediExpo Korea held at EXCO in Daegu on June 20, where they shared major achievements and examples of corporate support from the visual function assistive device industry development project.
Innovative products and technologies developed through the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy-supported "Advanced Functional Materials-Based Visual Function Assistive Device Industry Development Project" were extensively showcased, contributing to the market expansion of participating companies.
At this exhibition, ten companies that benefited from the visual function assistive device project, including View Science, CI Vision, Wear Company, iMedi, and Haga, operated a joint booth.
In particular, BioBricks, which presented corneal inflammation healing and regeneration technology using bioprinting, and Pixelro, which introduced an artificial intelligence (AI) eye health self-diagnosis kiosk, attracted interest from overseas buyers.
Building on this success, the second phase of the project, which will run from this year through 2029, will focus on supporting the development of high value-added diagnostic and therapeutic visual function assistive device products that integrate optical, bio-material, and ICT convergence technologies, expanding beyond conventional wearable devices.
Kim Kihong, head of the project group, stated, "We will provide the full extent of our university's capabilities and infrastructure to strengthen the competitiveness of companies related to visual function assistive devices and to contribute to the development of the local community."
