President Lee Jaemyung stated, "The situation in the Middle East is extremely urgent. All ministries, including the Office of the President, must establish an emergency response system and respond with extraordinary measures."

On the afternoon of June 23, at the Yongsan presidential office, President Lee held his first meeting with senior secretaries and aides since taking office and emphasized this point. He added, "We must have safety measures in place for our citizens in the region," and continued, "As certain situations are unfolding, I ask the National Security Office to thoroughly ensure the safety of Korean nationals so that their protection is guaranteed."


The meeting was attended by Chief Presidential Secretary Kang Hunsik, Policy Chief Kim Yongbeom, National Security Office Director Wi Sungrak, Senior Political Secretary Woo Sangho, Senior Public Relations Secretary Lee Gyuyon, Senior Economic Growth Secretary Ha Junkyung, Senior Social Secretary Moon Jinyoung, Senior AI Future Planning Secretary Ha Jungwoo, Fiscal Planning Aide, National Security Office Deputy Directors 1, 2, and 3, General Affairs Secretary, First Aide Office Director, Protocol Secretary, National Planning Secretary, National Situation Room Director, Political Affairs Secretary, National Agenda Secretary, Policy Coordination Secretary, and the Spokesperson, among others.


President Lee also stressed the need for a proactive response to the potential impact of instability in the Middle East on the economy. He said, "Due to the uncertainty, the economy?especially the foreign exchange, financial, and capital markets?is becoming highly unstable," and urged, "I ask that you identify all necessary measures and implement them swiftly."


He continued, "Our citizens are already suffering greatly due to inflation, and I am concerned that price instability may begin in connection with rising oil prices," adding, "I ask that you thoroughly devise extraordinary countermeasures."


Additionally, President Lee said, "Currently, in relation to the supplementary budget, measures to boost domestic demand are being implemented. Although the government's plan has been finalized and is being submitted to the National Assembly, if necessary, I ask that you also prepare additional alternatives to respond to the Middle East situation and actively seek cooperation with the National Assembly."
