Gwangyang City Calls for Nominations for "Citizen Award" and "Proud Gwangyang Citizen Award"

Gwangyang City in South Jeolla Province announced on June 23 that it will be accepting nominations for the 2025 "Gwangyang City Citizen Award" and the "Proud Gwangyang Citizen Award (for distinguished individuals originally from Gwangyang)" throughout the month of July.

The "Gwangyang City Citizen Award" is presented to citizens who have contributed to the development of the local community and the enhancement of citizen welfare in a variety of fields, including education and science, sports promotion, social welfare and environment, regional development, cultural promotion, public welfare, and industrial economy. The award is given to those who have brought honor to the city and set an example for all.

The "Proud Gwangyang Citizen Award" is granted to individuals originally from Gwangyang who have achieved outstanding accomplishments in fields such as culture, tourism, science, industry, and economy, thereby contributing to national and social development and enhancing the reputation of Gwangyang City.

Candidates will be selected through a rigorous review by a selection committee chaired by the Deputy Mayor, and the final recipients will be determined by the Mayor of Gwangyang. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at the 2025 Citizen’s Day commemorative event on October 8.
