Dong-A University Seokdang Museum Holds "Dong-A Goods Idea Contest" Award Ceremony

Dong-A University Seokdang Museum (Director Lee Seunghye) recently held the "2025 Dong-A Goods Idea Contest Award Ceremony," presenting certificates to the winners and promising to support the commercialization of their ideas in the future.

This contest, organized as part of the Ministry of Education's University Innovation Support Project, aimed to lower the barrier to museums and promote the Dong-A brand by collecting ideas for cultural products that can be used in everyday life, inspired by the museum's representative collections (including 59 National Treasures and Treasures, totaling 209 items).

Now in its third year, the contest received a total of 42 entries. After a multi-stage blind review by experts, 10 ideas were selected as final winners. The award ceremony took place on June 20 in the Seokdang Museum seminar room at Dong-A University's Bumin Campus.

The Grand Prize (Dong-A University President's Award) was awarded to Moon Sinyeong (first-year student, Department of Chinese Studies) for the idea "Wall Clock Resembling the Sun."

Moon said, "I was inspired by the unique form of the flat sundial and reinterpreted it as a wall clock that can be naturally used in daily life."

The Excellence Prize went to Choi Siwon ("Plug-on Busan Tram"), Jo Ajung ("Wireless Earphone Case Inspired by the Lacquered Mother-of-Pearl Furniture of Empress Sunjeonghyo"), and Kim Juhyun ("Jeongyeon, Embroidered Chochungdo Folding Screen Tea Set"). The Encouragement Prize was awarded to Son Chaeyoung (Busan Tram Cookie Set), Jang Jieun (Suyeong Yaryu Masked Beast Children's Baseball Cap), Lee Yuchae (Ssangjachongtong Fountain Pen), Park Heebin (Ahn Junggeun's Calligraphy Straw), Kang Seongyun (Wooden Bodhisattva Incense Holder), and Kim Minseo (Heukyuho Tealight - A Cup Containing Time).

The winning ideas will be unveiled online in July, and Dong-A University plans to commercialize them as university souvenirs and prizes.

Director Lee Seunghye stated, "I was amazed by the students' creative ideas and their fresh perspectives on cultural heritage. Seokdang Museum will continue to develop vibrant cultural projects together with students in the future."
