Hanam City in Gyeonggi Province, led by Mayor Lee Hyunjae, announced on June 23 that it has installed an additional sculptural shade, an artistic sunshade, at the stair plaza of Misa Lake Park (Mangwolcheon) to provide citizens with a more comfortable environment in their daily lives.
Misa Lake Park is a representative urban oasis in Hanam, where anyone can freely visit and enjoy cultural and leisure activities. The park attracts a steady stream of visitors with a variety of attractions, including Hanam City character display sculptures, an AR photo zone, a musical fountain, and a water play area.
The newly installed sculptural shade covers a total area of 242 square meters, expanding the shaded space to the lower area of the stair plaza following the 216-square-meter shade that was created in the upper area in January. The installation not only effectively blocks sunlight but also features artistic elements that harmonize with the surrounding landscape, creating a more comfortable resting space for citizens.
In particular, the stair plaza at Misa Lake Park is a familiar cultural landmark for citizens, serving as the venue for various cultural performances such as "Stage Hanam! Busking" every year. With the addition of the sculptural shade, the convenience for citizens enjoying performances or walks has been further enhanced, and the increase in visitors is expected to bring more vitality to the surrounding commercial area.
Mayor Lee Hyunjae stated, "Misa Lake Park is a precious space that has naturally become part of citizens' lives and is a symbol of Hanam's dignity," adding, "We will continue to create an urban environment where everyone can stay comfortably."
This project was carried out as part of the redevelopment of Misa Lake Park, with funding secured through a special adjustment grant from Gyeonggi Province.
