Event Recognized for Achievements in Expanding Korean SMEs into the U.S. Market
The Korea Federation of SMEs announced on the 23rd that it held a performance report meeting for the 23rd World Korean Business Convention at its headquarters in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.
The event was attended by Kim Ki-moon, Chairman of the Korea Federation of SMEs, Hwang Byung-koo, President of the Federation of Korean American Chambers of Commerce, as well as 14 members of the convention organizing committee and related officials. The 23rd World Korean Business Convention was held from April 17 to 20 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Over the course of the four-day business exhibition, the event achieved significant results for Korean SMEs seeking to enter the U.S. market, including: ▲ export consultations totaling $660 million ▲ on-site contracts focused on K-food and K-beauty products worth $49.9 million ▲ contracts for the construction of local U.S. factories amounting to $45 million.
In particular, this year’s convention was attended by numerous prominent U.S. political figures, including Isabel Casillas Guzman, Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration; Nathan Deal, former Governor of Georgia; and Hugh McDonald, Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Commerce. Their participation elevated the event beyond a business networking opportunity for overseas Korean entrepreneurs, establishing it as a stage for private diplomacy. Chairman Kim was also presented with a plaque of appreciation from the Federation of Korean American Chambers of Commerce in recognition of his successful leadership of the convention.
Chairman Kim stated, "Through this convention, we achieved tangible results in the global expansion of Korean SMEs and, by engaging with key U.S. political figures, I could truly feel Korea’s enhanced national stature. As the chairman, I feel a great sense of pride," adding, "I hope that overseas Korean businesspeople in the Americas will continue to serve as partners in helping Korean SMEs expand abroad."
