Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Institute of Science and Technology Promotion will be recruiting companies to participate in the "2025 Gwanggyo Biohub Lab Station Operation Program" from June 24 to July 29, 2025, in order to revitalize the bio startup ecosystem in the province and foster the Gwanggyo Bio Cluster.
This support program will establish dedicated labs for bio startups on the 8th floor of the Gyeonggi Bio Center in Gwanggyo, Suwon, spanning an area of 928 square meters. Each company will be provided with an office and research space: a Wet Lab (30 square meters) and a Dry Lab (32.2 square meters). Resident companies will also have access to shared meeting rooms, lounge areas, and networking spaces.
This year, reflecting corporate demand, a total of 10 new companies will be recruited: 6 in the Wet Lab category and 4 in the Dry Lab category. Eligible applicants include prospective entrepreneurs and companies in the bio sector with outstanding technological capabilities that have been established for less than 7 years.
In addition to providing startup space and laboratories, resident companies will also receive various growth support programs offered by the institute, including customized coaching, professional consulting, access to shared research equipment, testing and analysis services, and facility support.
The selected companies will be able to move into the open startup space in the Gyeonggi Bio Center starting in November 2025.
Starting in 2026, Gyeonggi Province plans to offer even more sophisticated, tailored support through a "selective support program" aligned with the growth stages of resident companies.
Um Kiman, Director of the Bio Industry Division at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "This program was established to help bio startup companies realize technology-based entrepreneurship and achieve stable growth," adding, "We will continue our efforts to foster the bio startup ecosystem and nurture promising startups so that the Gwanggyo Bio Cluster can become a hub for advanced bio industries."
Previously, the first round of the "Gwanggyo Biohub Lab Station" was operated last year on the 7th floor of the Gyeonggi Bio Center, covering an area of 933 square meters. A total of 14 bio startups moved in and are actively pursuing R&D-centered entrepreneurship and technology commercialization.
