Lotte Mart announced on June 23 that it has opened 'Bottle Bunker Bistro', a casual wine dining venue, in advance at the Jamsil branch of its mega wine shop 'Bottle Bunker', marking the first such pre-opening at a large discount store.
'Bistro' is a French term referring to a small restaurant that serves simple meals and drinks. It signifies a space where people can enjoy themselves comfortably and informally in everyday life. Bottle Bunker designed this new venue so that customers can naturally linger and enjoy wine and meals together while shopping. After gathering feedback from visitors for two weeks following its opening on June 19, the store is scheduled for official launch on July 1.
At Bottle Bunker Bistro, there are two main offerings: the 'Pairing Tap', which features menus made with ingredients directly sourced by Lotte Mart and paired wines, and the 'Premium Tasting Tap', where customers can sample premium wines and whiskies. The Pairing Tap offers food pairings such as apricot salad and steamed clams with wine, prepared by a Brazilian chef with experience at five-star hotels, alongside 32 wines selected by a sommelier with over 15 years of experience.
Additionally, a corkage service is available so that customers can enjoy any of the more than 5,000 wines and whiskies sold at Bottle Bunker in the bistro. There is also a 'Master Kitchen', where the chef is present to prepare and present dishes directly. At the Premium Tasting Tap, customers can sample small amounts of around 30 premium whiskies such as Macallan and Balvenie, as well as wines from the five Bordeaux Grand Cru classes.
Park Hyejin, team leader of Bottle Bunker, stated, "There is growing demand not just for purchasing wine, but for spaces where people can experience and enjoy the wine they have bought," adding, "Bottle Bunker Bistro will establish itself as a new kind of wine destination that reflects this consumer demand."
