Orion Begins Production of 'Pocachip' and 'Swingchip' Made with Freshly Harvested Potatoes

Contracts Signed with Over 300 Potato Farms Nationwide
Approximately 16,000 Tons of Domestic Potatoes to Be Used

Orion announced on June 23 that it will produce 'Pocachip' and 'Swingchip' using freshly harvested domestic potatoes this year.

Pocachip and Swingchip use domestic potatoes harvested from June to October, which is the prime season for potatoes, sourced from regions renowned for potato production such as Boseong in Jeollanam-do, Dangjin and Yesan in Chungcheongnam-do, and Yanggu in Gangwon-do.

This year, Orion has signed contracts with about 300 outstanding potato farms nationwide and plans to use approximately 16,000 tons of domestic potatoes for the production of Pocachip and Swingchip. The potatoes are transported immediately after harvest to the Cheongju factory and potato storage facilities, where they are used in production.

Fresh potato chips are made by slicing whole potatoes, so the quality of the raw potatoes directly determines the taste. In 1988, Orion established Korea's first 'Potato Research Institute' in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do, and has continued to invest in securing the highest quality potatoes under the principle that 'good products come from good ingredients.'

An Orion representative said, "As freshly harvested potato Pocachip and Swingchip have gained popularity every year, consumers have come to recognize that potato chips are best enjoyed in season. We hope you have a more delicious and enjoyable summer with these seasonal snacks made from freshly harvested, high-quality potatoes."
