Dongshin University announced on the 22nd that the Department of Counseling Psychology held a "Counseling Day" event to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

The event, which took place on the morning of the 21st at Together Hall on the Dongshin University campus, was attended by Lee Juhee, President of Dongshin University, professors from the Department of Counseling Psychology, current students, and approximately 150 alumni who are currently working as local counseling professionals.

Since its establishment in 2005, the Department of Counseling Psychology at Dongshin University has produced 627 undergraduate graduates, 135 master's graduates from the Graduate School, 583 master's graduates from the Graduate School of Social Development, and 39 doctoral graduates, establishing itself as a leading institution for training professional counselors.

The event was organized to reflect on the department's history, to motivate current students, and to create a shared vision for the future. The program included a congratulatory performance by current students, a development fund donation ceremony, a special lecture by President Lee Juhee, and networking time between alumni and current students.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary, 49 people participated in a relay donation to the development fund, expressing their support for the continued growth and advancement of the Department of Counseling Psychology. Lee Juhee, President of Dongshin University and a professor in the Department of Counseling Psychology, donated 10 million KRW, professors from the department donated 10 million KRW, and about 40 alumni contributed 17.4 million KRW, resulting in a total development fund of 40.9 million KRW.

President Lee Juhee, who played a key role in founding the Department of Counseling Psychology, delivered a special lecture titled "Choices Shape Us, and Responsibility Strengthens Us." In her lecture, she shared with current students and alumni the insights and attitudes she gained from studying counseling psychology, leaving a deep impression on the audience.

President Lee stated, "The department, now celebrating its 20th anniversary, is like a twenty-year-old. The road ahead is long and the world is vast, but it is an age when one gains the strength to make choices and take responsibility." She added, "The Department of Counseling Psychology, which began in a small research lab, has grown into a forest thanks to the roots established by professors, alumni, and students working together."

She continued, "Life is a series of countless choices, and a good counselor is not someone who makes choices for others, but someone who helps others recognize and take responsibility for their own choices. This begins with the counselor's own attitude of taking responsibility for their choices," and encouraged, "Responsibility is not a burden, but a right to protect your own story. I hope you cultivate dignity as a counselor by making choices honestly and taking responsibility with composure."
