Special Prosecutor Lee Myunghyun:
"Former President Yoon to Be Questioned Last"
Emphasizes Principle of Face-to-Face Investigation
Special Prosecutor Myunghyun Lee, who is investigating allegations of obstruction in the case of a fallen Marine, has announced that former President Yoon Suk-yeol will be summoned for questioning only after all other investigations have been completed.
On the morning of June 22, Special Prosecutor Lee told reporters on his way to work, "Because he is a former president, he will be summoned last, after all other investigations have been completed." He added, "Of course, the summons must take place," and emphasized, "The principle of investigation is face-to-face questioning; written or remote investigations are not the standard procedure."

Special Prosecutor Lee also stated that former Minister of National Defense Lee Jongseop, who is suspected of exerting external pressure on the same investigation, falls within the scope of the special prosecutor's investigation. Former Minister Lee was appointed as Ambassador to Australia and left the country while under investigation by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials for alleged interference in the fallen Marine case, which sparked controversy.
Special Prosecutor Lee is scheduled to hold a meeting this afternoon with Deputy Special Prosecutors Ryu Gwansuk, Lee Geumgyu, Kim Sukjung, and Jeong Minyoung.
He stated, "We plan to conduct an overall preliminary legal review," and added, "In the case of the special prosecutor for the rebellion case, a series of suspects are being released as their detention periods expire, so we should also prepare for such situations."
