President Hong Namgung: "A Starting Point for Global Collaboration"
Samsung E&A successfully hosted its Tech Forum event, attended by more than 140 global partners and domestic and international collaborators. During the event, the company expressed its ambition to lead the market in key technology sectors such as digital transformation, automation, and energy transition.
On June 20, Samsung E&A announced that it had concluded the Samsung E&A Tech Forum at the GEC (Global Engineering Center) in Sangil-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, with great success. The event was attended by over 500 participants from more than 140 companies, including global partners in the energy sector and domestic and international collaborators.
The event saw the participation of major global clients such as Saudi Aramco, ExxonMobil, and Petronas, as well as leading global energy innovation companies including Honeywell UOP, Johnson Matthey, Jidara, Nel, Carbon Clean, and Baker Hughes.
In 2023, Samsung E&A announced its vision to become "an engineering company that creates a better future with advanced technology" to fundamentally transform itself in the era of energy transition. Following a corporate name change last year, the company achieved several milestones, including its first entry into the SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) sector, participation in the Middle East's first eco-friendly plastics business, and acquisition of a stake in global hydrogen company Nel. As an energy tech leader, Samsung E&A aimed to showcase its technological capabilities to customers and the market, and to seek new opportunities. This led to the hosting of the Tech Forum for the second consecutive year.

Under the theme "Creating New Value through the Convergence of Technologies," the forum featured technical solution presentations, panel discussions, and seminars by experts in energy transition, eco-friendliness, innovative technology, and finance.
The event began with an opening speech by President and CEO Hong Namgung, followed by presentations of the company's future technology roadmaps, represented by E&Able and AHEAD. Samsung E&A explained that it would further strengthen its EPC execution system based on innovative technologies such as digital transformation (DT), automation, and artificial intelligence (AI) to pursue the AHEAD strategy?moving slowly but steadily and far. At the same time, the company will rapidly secure core technologies in the energy transition and eco-friendly sectors to lead the market through the E&Able strategy?moving quickly and far.
During the E&Able session, Nel, in which Samsung E&A recently acquired a stake, introduced its green hydrogen production solution "Compass H2." Global partners such as Honeywell UOP, Carbon Clean, and Svante presented the latest trends and developments in carbon capture technology solutions, followed by a panel discussion. Johnson Matthey gave a presentation on the outlook for the sustainable aviation fuel market and future plans, while in the water treatment sector, Samsung E&A introduced its circular economy model for water treatment and technologies held by its Environmental Technology Center.
The AHEAD session showcased Samsung E&A's unique process innovation models for design, procurement, and construction, sharing best practices and strategies for utilization. In addition, successful project development strategies through public export credit agency (ECA) financial support cases and presentations on combined cycle gas turbine plus carbon capture and storage (CCGT+CCS) project execution were delivered. In a separate exhibition space, Samsung E&A also presented innovative technology solutions it has invested in and developed.
President Hong stated, "Through this forum, we had productive and practical discussions not only on energy transition solutions such as carbon capture, green hydrogen, e-Fuel (electricity-based synthetic fuel), and Waste to SAF (waste-based sustainable aviation fuel), but also on EPC execution innovations that maximize productivity and efficiency. I hope that the connections made between technologies and between companies at this forum will lead to tomorrow's innovations and become the starting point for global collaborative projects that will lead the market."
