KT announced on the 22nd that it held a special session titled "Cybersecurity in the AI Era" for attendees of the Korean Institute of Communication Sciences Summer Comprehensive Academic Conference this year.
The Korean Institute of Communication Sciences Summer Comprehensive Academic Conference is an ICT academic event where industry, academia, research institutes, and government gather to discuss the latest research and innovative technologies. This year’s event was held over four days from June 18 to 21 at Jeju Shinhwa World, and the KT special session took place on June 19 during the conference.

This KT special session was organized to reflect the growing interest in network security, and featured detailed presentations on major AI-based security technologies and achievements by global telecommunications equipment and security companies.
The session began with an explanation of the future direction of network security technologies in the AI era, followed by an analysis of recent security threats faced by major global telecom operators. There were also presentations on network security strategies and industry preparedness in line with the evolution of 6th generation (6G) communication architecture, as well as on encryption of confidential information in mobile core networks and cases of communication encryption technologies.
Next, the session covered user behavior analytics (UBA) technology using AI for real-time anomaly detection and response, and security technologies in cloud environments. In addition, new technologies capable of detecting DDoS attack trends and attacks in the form of encrypted packets were introduced.
KT plans to continue expanding exchanges with technology experts in various fields. Lee Jongsik, Executive Vice President and Head of KT Future Network Research Institute, said, "Hosting this special session at the Korean Institute of Communication Sciences was a great opportunity to share AI-based security technologies to counter increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks and to present KT’s technology-driven vision for the future," adding, "KT will continue to strengthen the security and stability of future networks by leveraging our AI capabilities."
