Earlier, on June 16, Song Hojun, CEO of EcoPro, held an online management briefing for employees at the Ochang headquarters in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, and the Seoul office, sharing market prospects for the second half of the year and mid- to long-term management strategies.
Song stated, "Although we recorded a significant deficit in the fourth quarter of last year, everyone's efforts enabled us to return to profitability in the first quarter. Let's continue working together in the second quarter and the remaining second half to break the chain of losses this year."
He further emphasized, "Thanks to the growth of the European electric vehicle market, our shipment volumes are gradually increasing. In the second half, let's actively pursue customer diversification through a diverse product portfolio."
EcoPro Group is making every effort to diversify its customer base, including forming a task force centered around EcoPro BM, EcoPro Materials, and EcoPro HN.
Song added, "We plan to establish vertical integration in Indonesia, from nickel to cathode materials to recycling, to secure differentiated price competitiveness from our rivals. Through the success of the Indonesia project, let's lower costs and enhance our technological capabilities."
He also said, "We aim to achieve continuous growth by diversifying the group's portfolio beyond secondary batteries into other industries. We are considering various options for the holding company EcoPro to transition into an operating holding company."
Choi Moonho, Head of Business at EcoPro BM, and Kim Jangwoo, Head of Management, have also recently held online management briefings and a series of offline meetings with executives, new employees, and other staff to share management issues.
During a meeting with employees, Choi expressed, "EcoPro BM's flagship product, high-nickel cathode materials, will continue to hold a market position in high-end electric vehicles. In addition to high-nickel cathode materials, we will actively develop cost-effective cathode materials such as mid-nickel and manganese-rich (LMR) products to diversify our product portfolio."
Choi particularly stressed that for innovation to succeed, "the mindset of 'Jultak-dongsi' is important," explaining that both external and internal parties, as well as management and employees, must move in the same direction together. 'Jultak-dongsi' refers to the idea that for a chick to hatch from its egg, the mother hen must peck from the outside while the chick pecks from the inside at the same time.
Kim Jangwoo, who is responsible for management, stated, "We will enhance the operational capabilities of our overseas subsidiaries, such as ensuring the smooth operation of the Hungarian subsidiary, and proactively manage anticipated risks."
