Mungyeong Central Park Reborn as a Multi-Cultural Space in the Heart of the City

A total project cost of 13 billion KRW invested
Transformed into a hub of civic culture
with features like a skywalk and landscape lighting

The Central Park in downtown Mungyeong City, Gyeongbuk, has been newly transformed into a premium multi-cultural space that blends culture, art, and leisure.


On the evening of the 19th, at 7 p.m., Mungyeong City held a successful completion ceremony for the Central Park maintenance project at Central Park, celebrating the birth of a newly revitalized cultural space in the heart of the city together with its citizens.

The Central Park maintenance project was a large-scale initiative that invested a total of 13 billion KRW to completely renovate the aging 55,653-square-meter park.


Through this project, a variety of cultural and recreational facilities were newly established, including walking trails, a parking lot, a badminton court, a water plaza, an entrance plaza, a skywalk, exhibition booths, landscape lighting, and a clock tower.


The completion ceremony featured performances by local artists, a stage by a guest singer, and a skywalk lighting ceremony, all of which received an enthusiastic response from the citizens.


In particular, the landscape lighting installed at key points throughout Central Park created a fantastic night view, offering citizens a unique experience within the city.


Central Park has been reborn as a multi-cultural space that goes beyond a simple green area, strengthening its identity as a cultural park.


Mungyeong City expects that this renovation will revitalize the downtown area and establish Central Park as a space where residents can find a moment of rest in their daily lives.


Shin Hyun-guk, Mayor of Mungyeong, stated, "It is very meaningful that the old park in the city center has been transformed into a cultural hub where citizens and the arts come together," adding, "As a premium park that harmonizes with the natural landscape of Mungyeong, we will contribute to improving the quality of life for our citizens."


This renovation project is being recognized as an example of spatial innovation that reflects the identity of Mungyeong as a cultural city, and Central Park is expected to become the center of cultural and artistic activities in the local community in the future.
