On the 21st, Yonhap News reported that a man in his 60s, identified as A, who is charged with murder, appeared at the Incheon District Court for a detention hearing. He appeared with his handcuffed hands covered by a cloth and wore a hat and mask to avoid revealing his face. The warrant review is being conducted from 2 p.m. on this day, presided over by Judge Lee Kiwoong of the Incheon District Court. The decision on whether to detain him is expected to be made late in the afternoon.

When reporters asked A, "What was your reason for killing your wife?" he replied, "If you visit me once, I will explain everything." When asked, "Was the crime premeditated?" he answered, "I did it on a temporary (impulse) thought." When further asked, "Do you have anything to say to your deceased wife?" he claimed, "I believe I did the right thing."

Additionally, when asked, "Why did you go to see her immediately after the restraining order ended?" he countered, "It's my house. Where else would I live if I didn't go in?" When reporters questioned him further, asking, "Do you really think it was right to say you did well after committing murder? Don't you feel sorry for your remaining family?" he reiterated, "Yes. I only have one son left, so I have nothing to be sorry for."

Meanwhile, A is accused of stabbing his wife, also in her 60s, multiple times with a weapon in front of an officetel entrance in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, at around 4:30 p.m. on June 19. The victim, identified as B, was transported to the hospital by 119 paramedics but ultimately died. Police, responding to a 112 call from a nearby resident, arrested A at 4:39 p.m. the same day.

He had received a temporary court order in December of last year prohibiting him from approaching within 100 meters of his wife B and restricting contact, but the order expired on June 12. The crime was committed one week after the restraining order ended.

A also went to the same officetel on June 16 but did not meet B, and reportedly visited again on June 18, the day before the crime. Investigations revealed that on the day of the incident, B had visited the police station to inquire about receiving a smartwatch and installing CCTV, but she was killed before these measures could be implemented.
