At approximately 2:40 p.m. on June 21, a passenger car crashed after veering onto the sidewalk near the post office in Seongsan-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam.
It was determined that the vehicle mounted the sidewalk to its right, struck the stone pavement beneath the post office's flagpole, and then collided with a roadside tree before finally coming to a stop.
The accident resulted in the marble pavement beneath the flagpole being shattered, the roadside tree being tilted, and significant damage to the vehicle, including airbag deployment. However, there were no reported injuries.
Immediately after the accident, the driver fled the scene for unknown reasons.
The police plan to track down the driver by checking the vehicle’s license plate and reviewing nearby closed-circuit (CC) TV footage to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
