Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Cho Sangrae) announced on the 21st that it participated in the "2025 National Farm Expo" and received the Excellent Local Government Award for its evaluations in areas such as future agricultural vision, revitalization of returning to farming and rural areas, and regional promotion.


The county is actively promoting itself to metropolitan residents and prospective returnees to farming and rural areas at the 2025 National Farm Expo, which is being held for three days until the 22nd at the aT Center in Yangjae-dong, Seoul.


Gokseong County is providing information about its return-to-farming and rural settlement policies, Gokseong Mall, the Hometown Love Donation Program, and Gokseong travel. The county is also exhibiting its representative agricultural specialties, including Baeksemi rice, taro, processed taro products, fermented vinegar, melon (melon syrup and Makgeolli), fruit juices (apple, grape, ABC), brown rice, five-color rice, and processed five-color rice products, to attract the interest of city residents.


The return-to-farming and rural settlement policies include a 100% subsidy of 5 million won per household for farmhouse renovation, a program to foster new agricultural manpower with a 50% subsidy of 12 million won per household and 50% self-payment, and support projects for agricultural startups and home purchases by returnees.


A county official stated, "At this expo, city residents can benefit from information about Gokseong's geography and advice on selecting representative crops such as Baeksemi rice, taro, cherry, melon, and blueberry." The official added, "With thorough preliminary research and systematic planning, metropolitan residents can successfully settle in rural areas. The county will do its best to provide sufficient information about returning to farming and rural settlement, enabling the continuous attraction of city residents."
