The Busan Northern Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (headed by Min Gwangje) conducted prevention training for high-risk workplaces by industry at Silla University on June 17 and 20, ahead of the full onset of the summer heat, in order to prevent heat-related illnesses and industrial accidents at worksites.
This training was divided by industry: on June 17, it targeted workers in construction and other sectors, and on June 20, it focused on those in manufacturing. The training provided guidance on measures to protect the health of workers exposed to high temperatures during the summer, and offered practical prevention actions and strengthened safety management based on recent industrial accident cases.
In particular, the training focused on the following: the five basic heatwave safety rules (water, wind/shade, rest, cooling equipment, and emergency response); recognizing symptoms of heatstroke and heat exhaustion and responding to emergencies; and the immediate cessation of work and reporting to emergency services (119) if suspicious symptoms occur during work at the site.
Min Gwangje, head of the branch, emphasized, "The risk of heat-related illnesses is increasing due to climate change, and this can directly lead to industrial accidents. I hope this serves as an opportunity for employers to thoroughly inspect risk factors at worksites in advance and implement preventive measures rigorously."
This training was organized by the Occupational Accident Prevention Guidance Division of the Busan Northern Branch, in collaboration with the Busan Northern Employment Center and Sasang District Office. The branch plans to continue focusing on the prevention of summer-related accidents through on-site guidance, inspections, and campaigns.
