Jeollanam-do, the Top Training Camp Destination, Hosts Briefing Session and Fam Tour for Sports Officials

Jeollanam-do and the Jeollanam-do Sports Council held a nationwide training camp officials' briefing session and fam tour across the Jeollanam-do region for two days, concluding on June 20.

This was the second time the training camp officials' briefing session and fam tour were held, following last year. As a result of last year's event, the economic impact from attracting off-season (December to February) training camps reached 33 billion won, an increase of 10.3 billion won compared to the previous year. Therefore, this year's event was held four months earlier than last year.

The briefing session, aimed at promoting Jeollanam-do as the top destination for domestic training camps, was attended by Myung Changhwan, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of Jeollanam-do, Park Yongsoo, Senior Vice President of the Jeollanam-do Sports Council, and about 120 officials from city and provincial sports councils and sports organizations nationwide.

On the first day, June 19, at the Ramada Hotel in Yeosu, the current status and conditions for attracting training camps in Jeollanam-do, which is known for its mild climate, abundant tourism resources, and delicious southern cuisine, were introduced. The presentation also covered sports facilities and incentive programs for supporting training camps. The tailored explanations about regional infrastructure and support systems by city and county, which are important to coaches and managers, received positive feedback.

On June 20, a field fam tour was conducted. In Suncheon, participants visited Palma Sports Complex, Palma Indoor Gymnasium, and Palma Judo Training Center. In Yeosu, they toured Yeosu Sports Complex, the badminton stadium, and the tennis courts, among other facilities.

Vice Governor Myung Changhwan stated, "Jeollanam-do is doing its utmost to maintain its reputation as the optimal location for training camps," and added, "We will provide strong support so that athletes can achieve their dreams by improving their skills and abilities in Jeollanam-do."

As of 2025, Jeollanam-do operates 308 sports facilities capable of hosting training camps and is actively supporting various national sports competitions and international events such as the Korea Open Badminton Championships.
