The Tongbok Market customer center, built in 2014, has faced criticism for its lack of user convenience. The restroom and lounge areas were not separated, and there was no elevator for elderly or disabled visitors, causing inconvenience.

Through the remodeling, the city separated the entrances to the restroom and lounge on the first floor, securing a more comfortable rest area. The second floor was redesigned as a caf?-style lounge, allowing market visitors to relax and enjoy beverages. The third floor now features a merchants' association training room with a Hanok (traditional Korean house) concept. An elevator was also installed in the building to improve accessibility.

Previously, in March of last year, the city secured a project budget of 987 million won by being selected for the "Traditional Market Facility Modernization Project." After conducting a detailed design service, the remodeling work began in February and was completed with this project.

The completion ceremony, held on the 18th, was attended by Pyeongtaek Mayor Jung Jangsun, National Assembly member Hong Giwon, Pyeongtaek City Council Chair Kang Jeonggu, city council members, and about 50 local residents. Mayor Jung stated, "I hope the newly remodeled customer center will become a beloved space frequently visited by both merchants and citizens."
