On June 20, the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced that it held the "Automotive Industry Win-Win Agreement Expansion Support Project Meeting" to listen to the difficulties faced by automotive companies and related organizations in the Gwangju area and to seek solutions.
The meeting was attended by representatives from 12 Hyundai and Kia partner companies, including Neuron Motors Co., Ltd., Buseong Shaft Co., Ltd., and Daewoong S&T Co., Ltd., as well as officials from business support organizations such as the Gwangju Economic Promotion Win-Win Job Foundation and the Korea Labor Foundation. The agenda included an introduction to the Automotive Industry Win-Win Agreement Expansion Support Project, presentations on support programs by related organizations, and discussions on ways to collaborate.
Companies participating in the meeting shared a variety of challenges they are facing in the field, with the greatest difficulties cited as the recruitment of skilled professionals and young workers.
In particular, it was pointed out that a serious outflow of the youth population, combined with the reluctance of young people to work for small and medium-sized enterprises, is exacerbating the imbalance in workforce supply and demand at worksites.
Additionally, participants expressed the need for practical financial support, such as assistance in producing digital content like company websites and promotional videos, as well as expanding subsidies for both companies and employees.
The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry provided detailed information on the overall Automotive Industry Win-Win Agreement Expansion Support Project, including support for stabilizing and encouraging long-term employment, improving the welfare environment for workers, subsidies for new hires and long-term employees, renovation of shared facilities, and health checkup expenses.
Related organizations also agreed to continue enhancing support measures for companies in the region's core automotive industry by strengthening mutual cooperation for job placement projects targeting youth and middle-aged groups, education support for new and current employees, and improving the efficiency of support programs for companies and employees through inter-agency collaboration.
A representative of the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated, "We will continue to listen to the voices from the field and do our best to provide effective support through close cooperation with related organizations."
