KakaoTalk Adds 'Spoiler Prevention' Feature with Mosaic Messages [LoginTech]

KakaoTalk for Mac to Launch Service in July

KakaoTalk has launched a new service that allows users to view message content by tapping on a speech bubble after the message has been mosaicked.

According to the industry on June 20, KakaoTalk added a "spoiler prevention" feature through an application update on this day. This feature provides users with the option to send certain messages in a hidden state when chatting on KakaoTalk. Users can set up to 10 spoiler prevention areas per speech bubble.

Messages set with spoiler prevention are hidden not only within KakaoTalk, such as in chat rooms or chat room lists, but also cannot be viewed in notification messages on external mobile devices. The content can only be checked after entering the chat room and clicking on the speech bubble.

KakaoTalk users are expected to find the spoiler prevention feature useful when sending information that is sensitive to spoilers, such as drama or movie endings. In situations where sensitive information such as addresses or account numbers is sent, the spoiler prevention setting can also serve as an information protection feature.

The spoiler prevention service is available on Android, iOS, and Windows versions v25.5.0 or higher. It will be applied to Mac (PC) next month.

A Kakao representative stated, "We introduced the spoiler prevention feature so that users can enjoy small moments of fun while exchanging messages with friends, partners, and family members in chat rooms," and added, "Similar features are also available in other messengers such as Telegram, Discord, and Signal."
