Bucheon Launches Jungdong 1st New Town Redevelopment Master Plan

Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province has launched the "Jungdong 1st New Town Redevelopment Master Plan Establishment Project," marking the beginning of a comprehensive urban renewal strategy.

According to the city on June 20, this master plan is the first to be established by Bucheon among the 1st new towns. The plan aims to present a future vision for Jungdong New Town and outline concrete measures to realize that vision.

The proposal includes an urban spatial structure that organically connects cultural life corridors, eco-friendly waterway corridors, pedestrian green corridors, park corridors, daily SOC corridors, view and wind corridors, high-rise induction corridors, and appropriate building density throughout Jungdong New Town.

Through the master plan, the city will develop implementation strategies for the vision, four main objectives, and twelve key strategies outlined in the basic redevelopment plan.

Key elements include creating an eco-friendly waterway connecting Sangdong Citizens' River and Simgokcheon, forming a cultural life zone encompassing the Jungdong and Sangdong areas, designing building layouts that consider open view corridors and wind paths between structures, designating high-rise induction zones, securing floor area ratios that reflect views and sunlight, and planning for eco-friendly, long-lasting housing.
