The Chungnam Provincial Chapter of the Democratic Party of Korea strongly criticized Governor Kim Taeheum of Chungnam, who had sharply attacked Kang Hoonshik, Chief Presidential Secretary, stating, "Do not exploit President Lee Jaemyung's campaign pledge to relocate the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to Busan as a tool for political strife."
On the 20th, the Chungnam Provincial Chapter of the Democratic Party issued a statement, saying, "Governor Kim, together with the heads of local governments from the Chungcheong region affiliated with the People Power Party, has raised issues regarding the relocation of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and even brought in remarks made by the Chief Presidential Secretary from the Chungcheong region." The statement continued, "This is a classic example of outdated politics that stirs up regional animosity and hinders national cooperation."
The chapter further stated, "The relocation of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries is President Lee Jaemyung's public promise to transform Korea into a maritime nation," and urged, "Governor Kim should refrain from engaging in political strife and instead dedicate himself to the residents and the development of Chungnam."
The Democratic Party emphasized, "Any attempt to undermine national strategy with political framing will only lead to public disregard," and added, "Do not hold back the future of Chungcheong."
On the 19th, Governor Kim Taeheum of Chungnam, during a breakfast meeting with the governors of the four cities and provinces of the Chungcheong region held in Sejong, remarked, "Now, Kang Hoonshik, a lawmaker from the Chungcheong region, has become Chief Presidential Secretary. However, if the Chief Secretary stands by idly while government ministries belonging to the Chungcheong region are dispersed elsewhere, how can one engage in politics in the Chungcheong region? It would be irresponsible."
