The First Battle Site Between United Nations Forces and North Korea
Experience-Based Program Offered
To mark the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War, Osan City in Gyeonggi Province will host a participatory program titled "Into the Battle of Jukmiryeong" at the United Nations Forces First Battle Memorial Hall over two days, June 21 and 22.
The Battle of Jukmiryeong was the first engagement between United Nations forces and North Korean troops during the Korean War. The program will take place in and around the United Nations Forces First Battle Memorial Hall and Jukmiryeong Peace Park.
The event will feature experience booths and photo zones linked to the exhibition stories of the memorial hall. Participants will receive a Smith Unit soldier hat-making kit and a mission activity sheet.
Main activities include "Making an Umbrella" to honor Smith Unit soldiers, "Making the United Nations Forces First Battle Memorial" to create a postwar monument, and a "Giant Blue Marble Experience" to learn battle history through games. Children can also try on military uniforms and participate in laser shooting activities.
