Seungrae Cho, spokesperson for the National Policy Planning Committee, held a briefing at the Changseong-dong annex of the Government Seoul Office on the morning of the same day and said, "The core presidential pledges related to the prosecution have not been properly analyzed, and the formal requirements for the pledge implementation process have not been met."
Spokesperson Cho explained, "We received a work report from the prosecution for about 30 minutes today, but both the content and format were so lacking that we decided to temporarily suspend the meeting before moving on to questions. Although the prosecution provided additional materials and explanations, we have requested further documents. If the prosecution submits all the requested and supplementary materials to the committee by the 24th, we will review them and resume the work report on the 25th."
When asked by reporters whether the prosecution's report included the position that it would be difficult to abolish investigative authority, spokesperson Cho replied, "The work report did not contain content specifically related to the separation of investigation and indictment, but the committee judged that the report overall was focused on expanding the prosecution's powers."
He added, "We believe that the report excluded President Lee Jaemyung's fundamental pledges and only presented the basic functions of the prosecution, rather than providing a plan for implementing the president's pledges."
He then addressed the prosecution, saying, "This is not desirable for all staff and administrative employees of the front-line prosecution organizations. Please strive to become a prosecution that embodies common sense and justice. If you do so, the prosecution will become an organization supported by the people."
