Every year, the Jeonju Municipal Arts Troupe has expanded opportunities for citizens to enjoy culture and the arts, and contributed to the development of Korea's performing arts culture by producing and presenting joint performances that bring together the theater company, choir, symphony orchestra, and gugak orchestra.

This year's performance is under the overall direction and conducting of Shim Sangwook, artistic director of the Jeonju Municipal Gugak Orchestra. Jo Mincheol, president of the North Jeolla Theater Association, is directing, and Kim Cheol, artistic director of the Jeonju Municipal Choir, is conducting the choral pieces, enhancing the completeness of the work.

The original music play 'Haeohwa' is inspired by the 2016 film of the same name. Set against the backdrop of the Jeonju Gwonbeon in the 1940s, it depicts the tangled stories of love, art, and fate among Gisaeng Soyul and Yeonhee, who dream of becoming the greatest artists, and the genius composer Yunwoo, who was a prominent figure of the era.

'Haeohwa' (meaning 'a flower that understands words') is a term referring to a gisaeng or female artist. This production artistically reinterprets the meaning of the word on stage, aiming to deliver a profound resonance to the audience through the emotions and narrative of tradition.

Notably, this stage has been newly created by playwright Baek Haryong, centering on the Jeonju Gwonbeon, a traditional cultural asset of Jeonju. Composer Lee Jungho's music adds depth, harmonizing the sorrow (Han) and joy (Heung) of traditional music to create a profound performance.

No Eunyoung, Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism at Jeonju City, said, "This performance is a precious result created by the united efforts of the Jeonju Municipal Arts Troupe. I hope this show, where diverse arts come together on one stage, will provide citizens with deep inspiration and an unforgettable artistic experience."
