"Revitalizing Local Rural Tourism"
Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province is actively promoting the "2025 Rural Empathy Travel Expense Support" project to revitalize rural tourism in the region.
According to the province on June 20, the "Rural Empathy Travel Project" is a Jeonbuk-style rural tourism support program designed to encourage people to understand and share the value of rural areas. Since 2018, it has been operated every year with strong support from residents and tourists.
Tourists wishing to experience rural tourism in Jeonbuk can receive up to 30% support for activity costs at Jeonbuk rural experience and recreation villages and certified rural convergence industry operators, and up to 20% support for accommodation costs.
In particular, this year, to attract tourists during the upcoming summer vacation season, a promotion will be held in July and August, offering accommodation discount coupons of up to 50% for weekday stays (check-in from Monday to Thursday).
The Rural Empathy Travel Expense Support Project allows anyone, as long as at least one person is making a reservation, to receive coupons on a first-come, first-served basis until the budget is exhausted through the ChamCham online reservation system for consumer convenience. Special accommodation discounts for July and August can be found through the ChamCham KakaoTalk customer service center.
Through the 2024 Rural Empathy Travel Expense Support, a total of 22,327 tourists used Jeonbuk Province's rural tourism, achieving sales of 413 million won. Compared to 2023 (17,939 tourists, 355 million won in sales), this represents a 24% increase in the number of tourists and a 16% increase in sales, demonstrating significant interest and positive response from tourists.
Choi Jaeyong, Director of the Agricultural Life and Livestock Industry Bureau, stated, "Jeonbuk currently has a solid tourism infrastructure, including 148 rural experience and recreation villages. I hope many people will take an interest in rural travel, which offers the dual benefits of escaping daily life and relaxing in nature while revitalizing rural communities."
