'Safety' Joins... Busan Port Authority Appoints 8th Integrity Citizen Auditors

Busan Port Authority (BPA), led by President Song Sanggeun, held the appointment ceremony for the 8th Integrity Citizen Auditors at its headquarters on June 19, appointing 10 new external experts.

This appointment aims to strengthen the fairness and expertise of internal audits and to encourage the implementation of the code of conduct among employees. BPA has been operating the Integrity Citizen Auditor system since 2010.

The 8th group of auditors has been expanded from the previous nine-member system to a ten-member system. In response to government policy and to enhance safety accident prevention capabilities, BPA newly included the "safety" sector in addition to the existing fields of law, accounting, operations, and construction. Gong Heungdu, former Busan Regional Head of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, joined as the new safety auditor.

Over the next two years, these auditors will participate in internal audits and inspections related to BPA’s major projects, as well as provide recommendations and suggestions regarding corruption risks and policy proposals.

President Song Sanggeun stated, "I will actively cooperate with the Integrity Citizen Auditors to ensure that BPA becomes a public institution trusted by the people."
