A New Urban Residential Space up to 22 Floors High
Featuring Officetels and Neighborhood Living Facilities
The Sinchon Area 2-2 District is expected to be transformed into an urban residential space that combines officetels and neighborhood living facilities.
On June 19, Seoul City announced that it had held the 5th Integrated Review Committee for Redevelopment Projects and approved the integrated review of redevelopment plans, architecture, landscape, and transportation for the Sinchon Area (Seodaemun) District 2-2.
The site, located at 18-42 Changcheon-dong, Seodaemun-gu, is situated on the north side of the Sinchon Rotary and is adjacent to Sinchon Station. The area was first designated as a redevelopment zone in 2014, and among the five districts, District 2-2 will be the first to implement the project. The city expects that by conducting an integrated review of four areas?redevelopment plan changes, architecture, landscape, and transportation?the project period will be shortened by approximately four months.
In the future, the site will be developed into a building with five underground floors and 22 above-ground floors, housing officetels and neighborhood living facilities. The plan includes supplying 144 officetel units to meet the urban residential demand of young people and small households near the university area, as well as neighborhood living facilities to accommodate the floating population around Sinchon Station.
On the third floor above ground, a Youth Startup Support Center will be established as a public contribution facility to provide young people with opportunities for entrepreneurship and education. Senior welfare facilities will also be introduced to enhance leisure and welfare for the elderly. In addition, an indoor public space is planned so that citizens can use the facility freely regardless of weather or season.
Cho Namjun, Director of the Seoul City Urban Space Headquarters, stated, "With the approval of the integrated review for Sinchon Area (Seodaemun) District 2-2, we will respond to diverse residential demands, improve the urban landscape, and revitalize the surrounding area. Moving forward, we will continue to focus on revitalizing the region and improving citizens' quality of life through expedited integrated reviews."
