The Department of Physical Therapy at Dong-Eui University of Science (headed by Kwon Yoojeong) participated in the 'Salomon Jeju Oreum Trail Running Competition' held in Jeju, where they provided on-site treatment volunteer services.
During the two-day competition held from June 13 to June 14, the volunteer group from Dong-Eui University of Science, which included students, faculty members, and Meister's professional technology master's degree graduates, contributed their talents. They offered practical physical therapy services aimed at preventing injuries and helping participants recover their performance.
On site, the team performed emergency care, muscle relaxation, pre- and post-exercise stretching, and injury prevention consulting. They also attracted attention by operating a 'physio booth' that provided taping before the race and recovery massages after the race. The physio booth was managed by Jung Sangmin, a Meister's degree graduate, who supported participants in managing their physical condition.
Participants in the competition unanimously stated, "Thanks to the volunteer group from the Department of Physical Therapy at Dong-Eui University of Science, we were able to focus on the competition with peace of mind."
Kwon Yoojeong, the head of the department, emphasized, "It was a meaningful field experience for students to apply the theories learned in the classroom to real-life situations," and added, "We will continue to engage in volunteer activities at various sports events."
