Gwangju City Bus Union Reaches Tentative Agreement on 3% Wage Increase in Collective Bargaining

On the 13th day of the strike, the Gwangju city bus union reached a tentative agreement on wage and collective bargaining negotiations.

The Gwangju Regional Bus Union, part of the Korea Automobile & Transport Workers' Federation, came close to a final agreement during a meeting with Gwangju Mayor Kang Gijung on the morning of June 20, agreeing to a 3% wage increase and an extension of the retirement age.

Previously, the union had demanded an 8.2% wage increase and an extension of the retirement age, while management insisted on a wage freeze, which led to the strike beginning on June 5.

During the subsequent mediation process, management proposed a 2.5% wage increase, and the local labor commission presented a mediation proposal for a 3% increase.
