BIO USA is the largest global bio event, with more than 1,800 pharmaceutical and biotech companies from around the world participating. Celltrion has attended BIO USA for 16 consecutive years since 2010, seeking to expand partnerships across all areas of its business, including its flagship biosimilars, new drug development, open innovation, and contract development and manufacturing (CDMO).
During the four-day event, Celltrion held over 150 meetings, discussing various collaboration opportunities with global pharmaceutical and biotech companies. In particular, the company focused on securing potential partnership opportunities to strengthen its development pipeline, including antibody-drug conjugates (ADC), multi-specific antibodies, antibody new drugs, and peptides, which are core areas of new drug development for Celltrion this year.
Open innovation aimed at discovering promising technologies for new drug development was also widely discussed. Celltrion plans to thoroughly review the meetings held at this year's BIO USA to identify potential partners with growth potential and capabilities.
Discussions on expanding distribution networks also took place extensively. While Celltrion currently supplies biosimilar products through its direct sales network in major global markets, the company received proposals from various companies for collaboration on distribution-related tasks such as pharmaceutical transportation and storage. In some countries where indirect sales channels are maintained, meetings were actively held with companies to strengthen existing distribution networks.
In addition to business meetings, Celltrion conducted various promotional activities for booth visitors, including placing promotional brochures (with QR codes) introducing the company's main businesses and core products throughout the booth, and holding a giveaway event for assembly block keychains for survey participants. During this year's four-day BIO USA, it was confirmed that more than 1,800 participants visited the Celltrion booth.
A Celltrion official stated, "This year, there was great interest from visitors in our expansion into the new drug sector. We will secure the optimal technologies and potential partnerships to further advance our new drug portfolio, and through this, strengthen Celltrion's corporate capabilities as we continue to grow into a global big pharma."
