386 Students Selected in 12 Categories
"Nurturing Future Talent"
On June 20, Boseong County in South Jeolla Province announced that on June 19, the Boseong County Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Moon Chano) selected scholarship recipients for the first half of 2025 to discover and nurture local talent, who represent the hope for the future, and awarded a total of 274.59 million KRW in scholarships.
The scholarships were awarded to elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as university students, who have been registered residents of Boseong County for at least one year and actually reside there (with university students allowed to have an address in another region).
There were a total of 12 categories for selection, including academic excellence, future talent, Hope Narae (special talent), Bogumjari (welfare), Hanultari (county development), Dream Dream (GED), Hope Dream (academic encouragement), Areumdri, Blue Dream, and Saessak Kium, with a total of 386 students receiving scholarship benefits.
In particular, the newly established 'Saessak Kium' scholarship this year provides local elementary school students with opportunities for various educational activities and supports the creation of a better learning environment. In addition to general scholarship support, the foundation is also promoting one specialized project per school to strengthen educational capacity at the school level.
Through the 'Talent Kium' project, five local middle and high schools are operating educational programs tailored to each school's unique characteristics, with each school receiving 10 million KRW, totaling 50 million KRW in support.
Talent Kium projects include a software and artificial intelligence talent development club at Yedang High School, musical creation activities at Beolgyo High School, a Korean traditional music orchestra at Yedang Middle School, and drone expert training activities at Boseong High School.
The 'Dream Kium' project for vocational high schools supports two schools with 10 million KRW each to strengthen education focused on special skills and aptitudes. Examples include a non-commissioned officer exam preparation course at Dahyang High School and job certification courses (hair, makeup, baking and pastry) at Beolgyo Commercial High School.
In addition, to share the meaning of the scholarship program with county residents and to promote a culture of scholarships in the community, the foundation is publishing a collection of essays titled "Climbing the Ladder Leading to Dreams." This book, which contains sincere stories from scholarship recipients and donors, raises awareness of the value of the scholarship fund and plays a positive role in encouraging participation in scholarship activities.
Moon Chano, chairman of the foundation, said, "Thanks to the interest and support of local residents, we have been able to select scholarship recipients and award scholarships every year," adding, "We will also discover and foster scholarship programs beyond scholarships that can help students realize their dreams and open up their futures."
